Case study: Innovators' Initiative

The Innovators’ Initiative is a national innovation education and training initiative, for experience professionals with entrepreneurial ambition, hosted in publicly funded RPOs.

It features a strong focus on market opportunity using design thinking methodologies and a period of immersion for the participants in organisations at the coalface of the relevant sector.

Its purpose will be to deliver strong cohorts of high-calibre leaders and entrepreneurs, with the necessary skills and capability drive and leverage innovation in sectors of strategic economic importance to Ireland.

The programme design is based on the successful BioInnovate programme in the University of Galway. Here are 2 case studies from programme alumni explaining the benefits to them and their careers:

There are four programmes in the Innovators’ Initiative;

BioInnovate in University of Galway focusing on Medical Devices sector.

DigiBio in Dundalk Institute of Technology focusing on Digital Healthcare sector.

AgTech/Food Sustainability in University College Dublin focusing on the Food/Food Production sector.

CyberInnovate in Munster Technological University focusing on the Cybersecurity sector.

This Initiative will in the medium term, support Enterprise Ireland to build and grow the next generation of HPSUs.

It will also raise the level of research, development, and innovation (RD&I) activity in established and scaling Irish companies, enabling them to deliver sustainable growth in the future and increasing the numbers and value of high value jobs in these companies.
